Event Visuals

Day Rituals begin with a performance by Amiko Li, followed by a panel discussion with Michele Chu and Ute Meta Bauer, and presentations from Asymmetry Fellows across partner institutions. Night Rituals transform the space into a celebration of sound and visuals, featuring acclaimed artists such as Yousuke Yukimatsu , Crystallmess , Juliana Huxtable, 33EMYBW, and Meuko! Mueko! Etc.

Since Asymmetry Rituals is a brand-new idea with the potential to grow into future events, the client sought a distinctive visual identity to anchor its development. The process began with the design of its logo, which embodies the event’s spirit and lays the foundation for its evolving presence.

Keeping in mind the event’s nature of inclusiveness and diversity, the logo integrates the tolerance of chaos while remaining distinctly asymmetric. This design language captures the openness, multiplicity, and transformative energy of the project, serving not only as a mark but also as a conceptual statement about the coexistence of difference within unity.

For the promotional video campaign, I proposed a series of scheduled visual chapters – altar, purification, offerings, and summoning – that together build a complete narrative arc. Inspired by Terence McKenna’s idea of the Archaic Revival, but reinterpreted with a retrofuturistic twist, the visuals merge ancient ritual motifs with speculative aesthetics. The result is a transcendent atmosphere where past and future converge, and time itself dissolves into an immersive, otherworldly experience.

Amid ruins, a hidden passage leads to the sacred altar “The Observer” delves into shifting time and space. Asymmetric scenes blur past and future. A mysterious controller holds the key. Rewinds unveil a pond’s purification. Fast-forwards reveal absurdity and ritual preparations. A summoning nears, Gravity defies, ascending incarnates. A vortex beckons, another dimension awaits.
