Conceived by Sydney-based experimentalists – SOFT CENTRE – ‘SUPERMODEL’ is an expansive three-day program from August 29th-31st. SUPERMODEL’s stacked program of ecstatic performances in heritage book-lined halls, deep-dive keynotes, and workshops, grapples with contests of authorship, archiving and authenticity in the age of accelerating AI and global narrative collapse. In search of new models for co-authorship, collaborative worldbuilding, and more-than-human intelligence, SUPERMODEL offers potent counter-narratives to an increasingly atomised world.

Kynan and I worked closely on the visual identity for this event. Since the theme is deeply connected to the current influence of AI, we chose to manifest that directly in our process. By combining our strengths in 3D design and AI experimentation, we developed a hybrid workflow where the two constantly informed one another.

We explored both directions: feeding our 3D renders into AI to generate new visual ideas, and transforming AI outputs into 3D objects for further iteration. At times, the process felt complex and even disorienting, but it consistently opened unexpected possibilities. The results were not only experimental but also exciting, revealing new ways of thinking about image-making.

The overall visuals was presented through a flowing landscape not dissimilar to those behind you now, full of hidden caverns and pareidolia. The landscape lives and dies by the belief that the only limits that exist are the ones your brain decides to imagine into existence.
Inspired by a connection to the ancient and the landscapes they inhabit. They are the multi faceted creatures that inhabit us, not the other way around.
